This poem was inspired by “To love…,” by Arundhati Roy, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbZMUInKDGI
Our bodies are full
Rich from our ancestors
Hip to the rhythms of freedom
Elevated by the sounds of resistance
Our minds are powerful
Curated in our mothers womb
Cultivated through embodied experiences
And strengthened through knowledge of self
Our fingertips deepen our connection
A touch that seeks to heal not destroy
Our hands are moved by the quiet vibration of the earth
As we reach towards our lineage
We stay rooted to the land
Riding with all our memories
Traveling collectively through Indigenous space
We are planted in revolution!
The Black body possesses magic
And not in the whimsical way but
Magic that flows into the atmosphere
Magic that devourers oppressions tools
Magic that is enveloping
